Right now the only way for you to experience these new iOS 6 features is to be a registered Apple developer. If you do not want to spend the $99 required to become a registered Apple developer then you will be glad to know you have another option; as long as your iOS device is Jailbroken that is.
You see, recently a Winterboard theme was released into Cydia called iOS 6 Theme. Though this theme will not actually give you all of the functionality of iOS 6, it will mimic most of, if not all, the UI (user interface) changes in iOS 6 on your Retina iPhone or iPod Touch. The most notable examples being the redesigned iPhone dialler, new stock Music app skin and blue status bar.
Obviously I understand these are all purely cosmetical changes, but what do you expect, it is a theme. For those of you who would like to add some of iOS 6′s functionality to your iPhone or iPod Touch you will be glad to know a few tweaks have been released to do just this.
- iOS 6 Photos Menu: This Cydia tweak will bring the all new iOS 6 sharing menu to the stock Photos app. With iOS 5, you could only tweet a picture from the Photos app, but with iOS 6, you can post them on Facebook, Google+ etc.
- iOS 6 Twitter Widget for Notification Center: The iOS 6 firmware features a tap to tweet bar from the notification center that will allow you to quickly compose your a tweet. With the iOS 6 Twitter Widget for Notification Center you can replicate this same functionality.
- FullScreen for Safari: Although this tweak was not specifically designed to bring iOS 6 functionality to devices running iOS 5, this golden tweak will still enable the full screen landscape browsing functionality that the iOS 6 version of Safari features (and some other cool features as well).
