Next gen iPad games?

The next generation iPad is currently being rumoured to feature a Retina display screen that would have a massive 2048×1536 resolution. That is an unreal amount of pixels jam packed into such a small area, and as such games, pictures and just visual objects in general are going to look much sharper.
For some imaging the difference between the first and second generation iPad’s screen compared to the upcoming iPad 3 or iPad 2S’ may be a hard task. Luckily however, as pointed by TechCrunch, the developers of the game Food Run, Pixels On Toast have been busy preparing for the expected 2048×1536 resolution and as such have provided a nice comparison that you can look at below.

Pixels On Toast have also pointed out that if the next generation iPad was to feature such a large resolution there would need a significant increase in the GPU power. Additionally, the size of games would become larger as higher-resolution textures would be dominant. Meaning the the size limit for games is going to have to be raised to accommodate the higher-fidelity assets.
With the next generation iPad going to be unveiled March 7th, 2012 only time will tell whether we will actually see a Retina display as sorts or not. What do you think of this comparison? Share your thoughts in the comments section below…
