redd00r

Back in 2011 we told you about a project called RedD00r that was being worked on by the creators of the original WhiteD00r custom fire files. For those of you who are not aware of what the WhiteD00r project is, basically it is an attempt to bring the features on the iOS 4 firmware to the iOS 3 firmware generation. Similarly, what the RedD00r project is, basically an attempt to bring the features of the iOS 5 firmware to the iOS 4 firmware generation.
The reason someone would want iOS 5 features while actually running the iOS 4 firmware, as explained in our last article, is if you have an older generation iPhone or iPod Touch; specifically if you have an iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G. You see, the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G do not have native support for the iOS 5 firmware, meaning users with these two iDevices are not able to update to the official iOS 5 firmware. With the RedD00r custom firmware file, however you can take advantage of most, if not all, the features of the iOS 5 firmware while actually running the iOS 4 firmware on your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G.
When we first told you about the RedD00r project there was no release date set in mind. It was simply an announcement by the WhiteD00r developers that it would be something they would work on. Thanks to information found on the WhiteD00r forums however, and from people who we have talked to, we have been informed that RedD00r is set for release some time at the end of February with support for the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (MB/MC). This is some exciting news for all of you who have been waiting to get your hands on the RedD00r custom firmware files!
